I hear this all the time “I just don’t feel right” “something is off” “my hormones must be out of whack”. Does everyone tell you it’s in your head, do doctors tell you there is nothing wrong? You know your body better than anyone else – if your intuition is telling you something is off, then it probably is! We believe you and are here to help.
What are signs of hormone imbalance?
So if something is off, what can it be? Often symptoms of hormone imbalances can be poor sleep, chronic fatigue, anxiety or depression, heart palpitations, and irregular menstrual cycles. It could also show as aching joints, hair loss, facial hair growth, fertility problems low libido, brain fog and more. Hormone balancing can be tricky as you have to know which hormones are out of balance in the first place!
What are the causes?
Excessive amounts of estrogen can cause irregular bleeding and weight gain, but so could low amounts of progesterone. So which is it? What hormones are we in fact trying to balance? Do you have high estrogen or low progesterone or a combination of both?
What can I do?
This is one of the many reasons why I highly recommend hormone testing! It is important to know what hormones you need to balance (or harmonize as I like to say!). Once we know we are able to customize a protocol specifically for each patient. That could be supplements/botanicals and dietary and lifestyle interventions. It is also a good way to screen for potential health concerns such as PCOS and endometriosis, or even risk for developing breast or uterine cancer.
What is testing?
The test we use in our practice is called the DUTCH test. DUTCH stands for Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones. I like to call it “hormone roadmapping” as it gives us a breakdown of your sex hormones, their metabolites and precursors and how well everything is being processed and cleared in the body.
It also gives us the same breakdown of your adrenal hormones such as cortisol levels and more. This allows us to see where your body is on the “stress spectrum”. Are you in acute fight/flight stress or are you more leaning towards chronic fatigue from long term stress (burnout mode, adrenal fatigue).
It helps us pinpoint EXACTLY where the problem lies so we can address it and support what needs to be supported with proper supplements/botanicals, nutrition and lifestyle intervention. It is the way to get to the ROOT of the problem.
Getting to the root of what is causing your symptoms is truly transformative, in other words A GAME CHANGER. Once you know what is contributing to, and causing your symptoms, you can address it, and start your healing journey! Nourishing and healing your body is the best way to honor it and protect it. We love supporting and empowering women on their health journeys and would love to help you! We are here for you!
