Hi, I’m Maddy!

As an intuitive Eating Counselor and Registered Dietitian Nutrition Therapist, I help people uncover the best versions of themselves by honoring their hunger, their bodies and their health. I am on a mission to help you nourish and feel good about food, and yourself.

I am curious about everyone and everything, I am adventure seeking, crave connection to others, God and the earth.  I can’t live without my coffee, prayer, my family, my workouts, a good meal, a good laugh, or contemplating the how’s and whys of this world.

As a chubby kid whose nickname was “Big Mad” I thought I had to diet and exercise to keep my weight at bay, which I did for many years.  I guess you could say I have been affected by diet culture, as all of us have. I am thankful for that experience, as it has led me to pursue my love of food, connection to my own body, health, and to others. It has led me to the truth and taught me how this culture focuses WEIGH too much on weight and the thin ideal which has led to my mission to help others realize the need to dispel those ideals, so they are able to feel good in their bodies.

At an early age, I was making grape jelly from our grapevine in our yard, cake in my Easy Bake Oven, and apple pies from the tree in our front yard (when my brothers weren’t throwing them at each other)! My love to connect to others through food has continued all through my life, and I continue to share that with my amazing husband, children, extended family, grandchildren, and friends! I believe we should not deprive ourselves of what we crave, and all foods fit. People are surprised to hear that I have pre-diabetes and elevated cholesterol and what most do not understand is that genes play a significant role in those diseases which sometimes we cannot control. My life experiences, culinary scholarships, and awards, as well as studying abroad in Italy, have provided me with exceptional educational experiences.

Although I have always eaten what I love and believed all foods fit, it was not until my education about Intuitive Eating, and through my work and experience, have I learned how we can trust our bodies to tell us what we truly need, and that we can be free of counting calories, carbs, feeling guilty when we eat, and exercising to burn calories. Reconnecting with my own internal cues has helped me to feel better, rid myself of the rigid food rules, have more self-compassion, and respect my body. It has also helped me to get to know myself so much more which then spills over into many other areas of my life. Although I now have a very balanced relationship with food, I still have days when I struggle with my own body image, especially watching my body change as I get older, as everyone else does. I have to also work on this and practice what I preach, which is to not allow a bad body image day to suck the joy from my life!

Owning my own nutrition practice has blessed and honored me to be able to help others and share my love and knowledge of nutrition, movement, and cooking. When I am not in the kitchen you can find me with family or friends, exercising or traveling, sipping wine or tequila while listening to music and cooking.

“Maddy was recommended by a friend and trainer and I reached out to her as I noticed my daughter losing weight and limiting her menu options, as well as exercising extensively. Initially my daughter was VERY reluctant but then on her own – revisited the conversation.
My son also was having these issues after my daughter and Maddy helped him as well. After working with her I noticed my daughter and son eating more varieties of food – as well as a shift in their mental state regarding food.
Madeline was firm with her guidance and offered workable solutions to guide my children. She is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. She is very well versed in meeting the needs of her clients (and support team) both with concrete/ specific examples as well as tips. However, she also approaches this from an emotional standpoint. In addition, she is ALWAYS available and responsive – as well as compassionate.
I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Maddy, as she has saved my family. I see smiles on my kids- laughter- and I understand that disordered eating is a lifetime issue but we are all better and more knowledgeable, thanks to her. ”
